Green, Maroon, and Comfortable.

Dear Journal,

Friday went by like a breeze. I had my two-buns hairstyle on again. (Gosh, I gotta find the actual name in English for it) I’m just going to call it what Emily calls it; pong-pongs. It was quiet and empty today. Cold too.

4:50 pm.

I was walking home in the freezing cold and remembered that I had agreed to be at a game night event the graphic design club members were hosting at 6 pm. Ugh! Remind me not to make plans again. I was dreading walking all the way back to the Tech Building in the cold in about an hour.

5:30 pm

Gladly remembered I had a bicycle and a jacket Pop-Pop gave me. Perfect. Went downstairs, got on my bike, and started speeding down the road toward the building. I had my grey crop top on, blue baggy jeans, and my jacket which was unzipped. Yeah, the wind was gnawing at my bones. What? I wanted to look cool and cute! Nope! I extinguished that stupid thought when I got to one of the first four buildings before the Tech building. Nobody’s going to take care of me if I caught a cold and fell sick, so who am I kidding?

I turned around and rode back to my apartment to get my sweet sweet, warm, gigantic, Comfy hoodie. Put it on, warmed my icy fingers, and rode out toward the parking lot in front of the apartment building to make a turn. But, a blue Chrysler made me stop as I let them drive past and saw the male silhouette of the driver looking intently at me. Sir, it’s a small bike, and the parking lot is big enough to accommodate both our vehicles.

6:03 pm.

I walked into the Tech building and went upstairs half walking, half dancing. Because that’s what I do a lot. When I walked into room 203, I saw Chris was there already with about 4 more people. Gave him a big warm hug for sure, hugged Abby too, and introduced myself to the others there. I thought those were all the people who’d show up, just like last time. Wrongest assumption I ever made.

In the following 4 hours, more people showed up, more snacks, more games. My former co-worker showed up with her very intriguing boyfriend. He wore a maroon suit to a game night but somehow managed to pull it off so well. Intelligent and outspoken. He was the kind of person to make a room listen whenever he spoke. His responses were the type most people had in the shower after an argument earlier in the day; smart and winning. Meeting him reminded me that I had a lot of exploring and people encountering to do. I loved the moving-to-California dream even better. The closest person to his kind I know has everything except the leader charm. She’s 7000 miles away and too introverted for that.

However, he seemed like he had pretty rock-hard opinions that wouldn’t change as long as he believed in them. Rock-hard sounded so wrong, I know. Haha.

The night was an ULTIMATE BLAST. I laughed so hard. BUT, there’s always a little negative rock to balance the scale. Sitting beside me during all the games, was this funny kid who made extra long, unnecessary, and too personal comments every single time he took a breath. We started to hush him after two hours of dealing with it.

We all finally decided to hit the road by 9:50 to 10 pm. I said my goodbyes, gave hugs and forgot my backpack. I had ridden to the parking lot of my apartment before remembering. Ugh. Typical me. So I turned around, called Chris, and got it from him at a different parking lot. On my way back, my head hurt from being in the pong-pong hairstyle the whole day. So I took it down and got excited in the shower for the new hairstyle I’ll be getting tomorrow.

I probably won’t write tomorrow because braiding is an 8-hour-long process most times. And I’m not doing it myself. Basically a full-time job for both parties.

Plus, Ange loves to take her time.
